Dear Colleagues,
Please respond to this post to test the forum. I believe if you do I should get a notice into my inbox that someone has responded or posted something in the forum. in this way we can allways get back to new queries etc.

Anyway, the more we test drive it the better it will get!

Hi Hanna,

Suprise! Someone’s using the forum! Well lets hope that we can kick start more people to use it - it’s one of the aims that I’ll suggest to Rachel for the newsletter. Fingers crossed!

Hi,
My name is Roisin and i’m a new member of your group. I am at present ASM-ing in the Abbey theatre in Dublin, but i’m moving over to London this summer. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on training in dramaturgy? I have an MA in Modern Drama and two years of experience in many different areas of the theatre. There’s no real dramaturgy courses in Ireland, apart from the masters and I was wondering where to start. An internship, or on the job training would be great but I don’t know what theatres specialise in dramaturgy.
Thanks! Roisin

Hi Roisin,
There is a list of courses on the website. I think under resources. It is possibly a little bit out of date but it might give you an idea. However it does sound to me as if you should go for getting hands on experience at this time. I am not sure which theatre’s in london would consider a request for an intern ship but it is definately worth sending letter after doing your research. There is a lot of change in theatres in London at the moment so that might affect what kind of project they run and whether they are of interest to you.
I am the dramaturg at Tinderbox Theatre co in Belfast and I know you are just about to leave Ireland but we do specialise in dramaturgy and we do take on interns now and then so have a think about this and feel free to contact me at Tinderbox.
All the best,
Hanna Slattne

Hanna,

Thanks very much for your help. I’m still doing research on various theatres in london that specialise in dramaturgy. I’ll probably try to pick your brain again sometime soon-once i figure out the questions! thanks again!
