PLAYING WITH CONVENTION: CREATING NON-SCRIPTED DRAMA

Delivered in conjunction with Triangle Theatre’s production of The Last Women at The Belgrade Theatre, this workshop will investigate the process of crafting theatre in a new and innovative way. In particular, Carran will examine the relationship between audience/spectator/participant and actor/character interpreter. Exploring the links between myth, reality and legend, the workshop will look at approaches to gender, structure and visual imagery in the creation of an authentic, believable world. Suitable for writers, dramaturgs and theatre practitioners looking to engage with how performance can be devised.

Carran Waterfield is the founder and Artistic Director of Triangle Theatre Company based in the West Midlands UK. She has devised, written and directed over forty productions. Her production and education work have been represented internationally. She regularly presents at conferences as well as leading training courses with Co-Artistic Director Richard Talbot.
